Working Out

In a perfect world, we would get all of our essential vitamins and minerals, along with a proper balance of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. But sadly, we do not live in a perfect world, and even though real food is the desired source of all of the above, in order to push yourself a bit […]

Sweaty Sunday Weekly Recap: Week of March 17

by ~jenniferlynn on March 24, 2013

in CrossFit, Working Out

I took my inspiration from Danielle at It’s a Harleyy Life and rather than posting about my workouts as they happen, I figure I’ll do one recap post a week for those interested in seeing how I chose to torture myself at Crossfit. I’ll still post about any workouts that stand out during the week if […]

Crossfit Games Open Workout 13.3 – Parts 1 and 2

by ~jenniferlynn on March 24, 2013

in CrossFit

Waiting for the Crossfit Games Open workout announcements is half of the fun of this whole Open process. While I am not at all competitive, nor anywhere near the top of any list, there is still some anxiety that comes along with the announcements of the workouts and even more-so when it comes down to performing […]

Running and I have a love-hate relationship. I have mentioned before that it is just one of those things that makes me feel so weak when I do it, and makes me feel that all of the hard work that I put in training for other things is useless. But in order to be a […]

I don’t know about you but it seems like the more callouses, skins, and bruises I get, the cooler I feel in my Crossfit world. I talked a couple weeks ago how having a skin tear is like one of the rites of passage in Crossfit, and while I have some minor ones, none have ever bled […]

The emotional side of an injury

by ~jenniferlynn on March 13, 2013

in Guest Posts, Running

When I hurt my back and whined and cried for a week about it, I took a step back to think about all of those people who have had long-term injuries, or injuries that took them away from their sports for an extended period of time. I was debilitated for less than two weeks and […]

When I found out that the building I work in (Detroit Renaissance Center, aka GM Headquarters, aka tallest building in Detroit) was creating a running club, I was quite intrigued. I have always loved the idea of a running support group to help encourage and motivate me, but have always been a bit lazy in […]

Crossfit Games Open – Workout 13.1

by ~jenniferlynn on March 10, 2013

in CrossFit

I know a lot of my followers are runners, but don’t get too excited about the title of this post. The first workout in the Crossfit Games Open 2013 was cleverly titled 13.1 (I think because of the year 2013, first workout of the games), and did not translate into a half marathon by any means. 😉

Runner bug? Race bug?

by ~jenniferlynn on March 5, 2013

in Running

I have a bit of an issue that has become more of a problem since I ran the Turkey Trot 10k. I think I have a runner’s bug. Not so much a runner’s bug, but a racing bug. I will tell you all day long that I do not like running. I get frustrated, and it […]

2013 Detroit Fight for Air Climb – Event Recap

by ~jenniferlynn on March 4, 2013

in Running

I want to first thank everyone that either donated to my Fight for Air Climb campaign, or those who re-tweeted my plea to raise money for this event! I was able to raise $215 to help support the American Lung Association! I was shocked at how quickly I met my goal just by soliciting some […]
