Inspired by Alex at Alex Tries it Out, I thought I could at least commit to one fun blog post a week, talking about five random things on this Friday!
Today’s focus is on my recent addiction to Amazon Prime. Free two-day shipping on about a million things, free streaming movies, and more. If you don’t have it yet, do it. Or try it free for 30 days and then do it. Seriously. Then I would recommend you hide your wallet. Except Amazon has this handy-dandy little “one-click order” feature that you can sign up for, which means you don’t even need to do a confirmation page or anything. Evil little button.
What typically happens is I think of something I need and make a plan to check it out next time I go to Target or somewhere. Then, I think to myself, “Self, you probably won’t go to Target within the next two days, so may as well see if Amazon carries it..” And then in two days, BAM. At my doorstep. Here are some recent purchases that have been possible impulse buys..
Wire Fruit Tree Bowl with Banana Hanger
I tend to go through quite a bit of produce, including a ridiculous amount of bananas and avocados. I was looking for a great way to store them that wasn’t on my counter-top, and found this awesome banana hammock, as my friend over at Real Food In A Real World has called it. It ended up being a bit bigger in person than I expected, but now I can safely store my bananas and other fruits!
Pyrex Storage 14-Piece Round Set, Clear with Blue Lids
Somehow all of my plastic containers disappear. Maybe it’s because I like to cook or bake excess amounts of food things sometimes and share with a couple of guys at the box who think there is some sort of statute of limitations on said containers and then I never see them ever again.. hmm.. So while finding replacement containers, I found these, which I prefer to the plastic things anyway. Oven-safe, dishwasher-safe, freezer-safe, durable, and awesome. And this set is such a good deal now!
OXO Steel Dish Brush
I am obsessed with cast iron skillets and lately have been trying to make an effort to use them more than my non-stick pans. In a world where anything that you are doing, can, and should be, done healthier, I guess non-stick is one of those things you should avoid. And since cast iron is special and can’t just be tossed in the dishwasher like everything else, I needed a proper cleaning brush!
Google Chromecast Streaming Media Player
Just when I thought my Netflix and Hulu nights could not get any lazier.. enter Chromecast. Plug this thing into your TV, and your cell phone or laptop is now a remote control. I was formerly hooking up my laptop to the TV and would need to get up anytime I wanted to pause or change programs, but now, I can stay planted on my couch. This also works great for Pandora and YouTube! And probably the furthest thing from a necessity.
Madden Girl Women’s Legacie Boot
OMG, I am in love with these. If you know me, you may know I have the fashion sense of a five-year old when it comes to trendy things. Or a frumpy old maid that just doesn’t care. If it’s not wod gear, I am clueless about life. But then around Christmastime, I saw these boots on a coworker and decided that I needed at least one trendy piece in my life. And other than my gym shoes and FUGGS, these are the only things that have been on my feet in this never-ending winter.
~
So there are my five things on this lovely Friday!
Your turn..
Are you as addicted to Amazon as I am?
Do you prefer to order things online or in person?
Do you use non-stick pans or cast iron or stainless steel?
Do you lose all of your containers like I do?
What is one thing you have bought recently out of pure convenience rather than a necessity?
Disclaimer: I may receive a small commission if you purchase anything using my links. However, this is not a sponsored post and I a truly just an Amazon addict. My UPS guy can attest to this. As will the guys that pick up my recycling bin and the massive amounts of cardboard that has gone up in there lately.

Oh yes, I’m addicted to Amazon Prime. You didn’t even mention all the free streaming video! We can watch it through an Amazon Prime Video app on our Blu-ray player, and I just love it.

Ha! I just signed up for Amazon Prime too and I LOVE the free 2 day shipping! I also LOVE everything you got! I so need something permanent to clean my stainless steel All-Clad pans with as I keep buying those scrubby things and tossing them after a few uses.

I have that Pyrex set! It’s really nice! Probably one of the most used things in my kitchen!
I have cooled down my amazon addiction over the past few years, but lately have been buying a ton of kindle books for my iPad from there. Their daily deals are awesome, I am “stockpiling” 99 cent books way too frequently now!

I love those boots!! I am such a shoe fiend! It’s a good thing that I’m frugal because I would go broke buying shoes. Great list!

That One-click order option has gotten me in trouble again… especially with the Amazon App. My purchasing addiction is currently for my kindle but my daughter has Prime and LOVES it. I like my Pyrex bowls but I do not have this set. It would be nice to replace the plastic containers since I always lose the lids and over time the plastic gets melty in spots. I have major storage problems though. Anything I buy needs to nest inside each other tell.
Cute boots!
I love Amazon Prime!!
That Google streaming media player sounds awesome – I better go check it out right now!

I LOVE Amazon Prime too! I don’t even want to know how much money I’ve spent there. From Christmas presents to things I “need” to have right now, I can only imagine it’s a small fortune.
I have those Pyrex containers. I think we’ve used them so long though that the covers have gotten warped.
That damn one click button on amazon it is way too easy to buy things 😉 But I’m not complaining too much.
Love that fruit bowl idea, genius!
