I really, really, tried to make an effort to stay completely unplugged this week. I was even partially forced to, as I am out of the country to every text I send costs money, and if I date access the internet, it is quite costly.
But then it stormed. And stormed some more.. so I found solace in the Tim Horton’s coffee shop with free wi-fi. And maybe had a donut. Or muffin. Or bagel. It’s been three days of rain.. I have to buy something to stick around here, right? 😉
I found this week’s spotlight via Facebook, and loved her attitude about just being proud of herself and her accomplishments!

What types physical activity do you enjoy?
I run….although I don’t usually enjoy it… but it’s necessary in order to run OCR races which I really love.
How did you get started in weight lifting? How long have you been lifting?
Started weightlifting when I was about 19 with my husband. I freaking love moving heavy weight!
Favorite workout or lift?
I love any CrossFit WOD and I love to bench press and squat….but my deadlift is my heaviest lift.
Current lifting-related goal:
My currently lifting goal is to compete in the Powerlifting for Pups comp in Atlanta in August. I hope to bench 190 and deadlift 300 by then.
Piece of advice for new lifters or those reluctant to try:
Lifting will not make you look like a man. You’d have to have the right build or steroids for that to happen. It will however give you more muscle mass to burn more fat. And, freaking confidence out the wazoo!
I am a chunky girl trying to overcome a neurological condition that has made me gain weight over the last five years and made it almost impossible to get it off. But, I won’t let that stand in my way of achieving my fitness goals!
