This week’s spotlight is quite a unique one and one that I am very honored to be able to share, and not just because we share the same first name. 😉
My blog has morphed into something that I am quite proud of and I try to give a positive message about women and weightlifting and really learning to take care of yourself and find that happy place within. When I hear that someone has been motivated or inspired by me, I am completely humbled and it gives me a feeling that I am more just than words on the screen. To inspire someone else makes doing what I do worth it so much more. I think the spotlight below doesn’t even begin to describe how inspirational this woman is!
Jennifer sent me a message on Facebook not too long ago and with her permission, I needed to share:
Thought I’d share a bit about myself. I think the picture says it all. I’ve looked at your blog and it also inspired me to start lifting and CrossFit.
I’ve had some challenges over the past 12+ years. I was diagnosed with cancer back in 2001…after 2 rounds of radiation and 4 surgeries later, having my daughter in between surgeries and radiation treatments, and I’m still not considered in remission because they found another metastatic lymph node last fall….but I got my oncologist to approve me this year to do CrossFit, Olympic Weightlifting and to try the paleo diet….it’s only been a few months but I hope to achieve what you’ve done maybe by next year! Thanks for inspiring me.

Piece of advice for new lifters or those reluctant to try:
Lift it. You’ll surprise yourself. Find knowledgeable and certified trainers/instructors.
Never be afraid to try something new and out of your comfort zone. No matter what ails you physically it’s overcoming the obstacles you’ve put up mentally and emotionally that you have to overcome. Once you do, you’ll be able to unleash your beast!
