As you are reading this I am excitedly on a plane en route from Detroit to Long Beach, traveling to the seemingly mythical Sunny California that I have only heard about from others or seen pictures. A place where the sun is always shining and there is a laid-back more health conscious culture than here in the D. I am not very traveled at all, and have a whole heck of a lot of emotions being able to travel for work for the second time (They sent me to Portland once 5 years ago, which yielded much less anticipation). While I am embarking on this work trip (with plans of finding a place to WOD!), I thought it would be fun to share what a typical day is like for me when I am not being whisked away to the West Coast!
About two years ago I wrote a post about a day in the life of me, so I have put a little comparison below to see how I have changed!
Then:
6:55 Alarm, snooze
7:04 Alarm, snooze
7:13 Alarm, get up!
7:14 Brush teeth
7:16-7:30 Pack breakfast/lunch, put on makeup, find something to wear, look for keys, look for cell phone, make it out the door
Now:
6:30 – 7:00 Alarm goes off at some point according to Sleep Cycle App; fast-skim all notifications on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, G+, Timehop, Snapchat
7:15-7:30 Grab prepped breakfast/lunch, skip makeup, feed the dog, find something to wear, make Bulletproof coffee, look for keys, make it out the door
Then:
8:00-8:05 Arrive to work. Enjoy first cup of coffee.
Now:
8:00-9:00 Arrive to work. Fill up 64oz water bottle. Catch-up on blog reading. Schedule posts from Feedly using BufferApp.
Then:
9:00 Second cup of coffee
10:00 Breakfast (two eggs, avocado, some berries)
Now:
11:00 Breakfast (meat and veggies).
Then:
12:30 Lunch (chicken breast, raw veggies)
Now:
2:00 Lunch (meat and veggies)
Then:
2:00 Snack (banana or apple, usually with almond butter)
Then and Now:
4:00 Workday ends!
Then:
4:30 Arrive home from work; change into workout clothes
5:00-6:00 Workout (New Rules of Lifting for Women)
Now:
4:30 Arrive home from work; change into workout clothes. Grab blender bottle of almond milk and a banana for post-workout. Eat a fast bowl of oatmeal or a cup of Honey Nut Chex for pre-workout snack plus one or two hard-boiled eggs.
5:00-5:30 Drive to Crossfit
Then:
6:00 Dinner (spaghetti squash or meatballs pretty much make up at least two meals every week..)
Now:
5:30-8:00 Warmup, Oly-lift with my fellow Outlaw Owls, WOD, protein shake and banana
Then:
7:00-10:00 Blogging, reading, studying, catching up on TV shows (currently Pretty Little Liars, Drop Dead Diva, and Army Wives)
Now:
9:00 Dinner (usually meat and white rice); fit in a TV show if there is time (currently New Girl, Mindy Project, Modern Family), more social media-ing
Then:
10:00-10:30ish Bedtime
Now:
10:00 Epsom Salt Bath, read a book, maybe once a week, wine.
10:30 Bedtime
Then:
Repeat Monday-Friday, except Tuesday/Thursdays omit workout.
Now:
Repeat Monday – Friday, except Thursday omit workout and add laundry plus cooking dinner for my man-friend 😉
Your turn..
Any questions on my day-to-day life? Not too exciting!
How have your habits changed over the past couple years?
Do you workout at home or commute to a gym?
Are you a creature of habit or routine? Or do you do things differently everyday?
I’d like to do a post similiar to this, but the majority of mine would be me right here at my work desk looking at this computer… probably most of the time with the same document open! Haha! Hey, thanks for sharing and have a super awesome time in Cali!!! Be safe!

This is a fun post!! Your day is pretty similar to mine now! Except I have class one night a week and my nights consist of some homework/lesson planning. Loved getting an insight to your life!

Chicken for breakfast? I can’t do it. I’ve tried, but I just can not bring myself to eat animal meat in the am (unless of course it’s something like bacon, sausage or eggs). Then, I am all in! 🙂
Have a great trip in sunny CA!

Great article, but I wanted to comment on your use of man-friend. I’m glad to see girls doing that now. I used the term lady-friend years ago and most of the girls I knew almost took my head off for it. I’m glad it is now being embraced by women also. 🙂
Haha.. I feel like the dating world has changed quite a bit.. plus “boyfriend/girlfriend” sounds kinda silly in your 30s, doesn’t it?
