As a health or fitness blogger, we willingly sign up for sharing our lives. Rather it strictly be discussing our diet or exercise, sometimes we let other personal aspects in, such as where we live, our family, our significant others, sometimes your kids. Even if you choose not to share such details, it is almost impossible to not share things that go on in your personal life, as it can directly affect your relationship with health and fitness as well. These external factors going on in the outside world can also directly affect your blogging, even if you aren’t comfortable sharing those things with the entire blogosphere. These outside factors make us who were are and can inspire, encourage, or even adversely affect how or what we write.
There has been something going on this past week with me and I feel it has affected my blogging, so I wanted to get it out, yet not too sure how much I wanted to share..
Imagine you have a favorite pair of slippers. You have had these slippers for about ten years, but have had other pairs of slippers in the meantime that came and went. You just really started wearing these favorite slippers three years ago, on and off, with the past year being even more attached to them. And even though they aren’t a perfect fit, anytime you put them on, you instantly feel all warm and cozy. It’s a comfort thing.
Despite being all warm and fuzzy on the inside, they have started to tear, and get some holes in them. There is also the constant annoyance of the tag that keeps chafing you signalling that maybe it is time to get a new pair. But you don’t want to throw them away. You ignore the imperfections and just use a band-aid to cover up the problems.
You love these slippers and even though they are no longer perfect for you, there is sentimental value and you cannot stand the thought of throwing them away, and being without them. But then there comes a day when you have to let go.. and learn to move on with your life without those slippers.. and hopefully one day a new pair of slippers will come along that were just as cozy and warm and special as the last pair..
So here I sit.. barefoot..

I’m sorry. FYI – it doesn’t really matter how it affects your blogging. Do not give that a second thought. Real life is more important than cyber-life.

Awwww I have items like this in my life! My husband threw away one pair of sweatpants I loved. They were think and cozy yet full of worn holes and a bright green color. I was heartbroken I still think about them time to time.
Aww.. Renee.. I wasn’t talking about slippers.. 😉 hehe.

Thank you, Tasha. As a quote I love, “everything will be okay in the end. And if it’s not okay, it’s not the end. ”

Hi Jenn! A new LUXURY pair of slippers awaits you, the kind like at the 5 star hotels, that make you feel good all the time, they don’t have holes, and aggravating tags, they solely exist to make your stay with them completely comfy & happy. There IS plenty of time still to go shopping for them;)

So when I first read this I was like “Geeze Jennifer get some real problems! Gah!” But now I get it. Sorry, I’m a little slow sometimes. Anyway, I’m sure it’s not a coincidence that your journey to making yourself healthy and a priority in your own life has led you to this point, and you should be proud of yourself for making the tough decision, even though it might be painful. You are awesome and I’m sure that there are much greater things ahead for you! Just keep moving along one day at a time!
